A Little R & R Before the Big Event Is A Good Thing - One common mistake cyclists make is not getting enough rest before a big event. Often we go into the week before our big century ride or race feeling like we need more training. All the training and preparation for a big event, however, should happen in the months and weeks preceding the event. It takes time for your body to recover from training and build on the hard work that you've put in. So, the week leading up to the event should be a week of light training to total rest that allows your body time to recover fully. Rest will allow your body's energy stores to replenish and allow the muscle trauma that occurs during training to repair itself. Eat smart as well, with an emphasis on complex carbohydrates, and you'll be ready to do your best. Check with us for more information on training and nutrition.
